Secret City Project - Expressions Book Interview

Chris and Shannon picked me up in their Red 'Free Taxi' ride to do an interview while giving me a lift to a local gallery, I needed to drop off some work for this 75.co.za Exhibition I was in later that week. Primo Hits South Africa For The First Time and DJ Just Be...? Gives You Free Daisies!!!

DJ Premiere played in Cape Town South Africa @ The Assembly last week. I was amped to be shooting Press/Media for the event, so a few hours before the show I put together a little mix to get hyped. I had seen him a few times before, the last was New Year's 2006 in Las Vegas but he was playing a corp. gig to less than 150 people and was dropping a lot of non HipHop tracks. This time I knew he would play classics, and he did. He dropped mostly his own production to a solid crowd. I shot some top class stills on celluloid and even a short video clip on this little digi' camera I normally use as a dictaphone for interviews. Primo finished around 4am and was still cool enough to let me shoot a portrait on his way out. Echo Ledge GoPro Skateboard Clip - Test Round

I linked up with the cats from Echo Ledge at Sports Unlimited after the African Vacation Tour Demo over the weekend. They asked me to help them test their new GoPro rig for the first time, it was a bit strange to skate but i got a few good runs. Check out this rad little video they put together with some of the footage...

They also have a surfboard mount that I am frothing to test. Not to mention I'm keen to get few more tricks and maybe some better angles on the skateboard, maybe the bowl in Stellie'...

Strap a Really Expensive Camera To My Chest and See What Happens at Adidas Originals - Three Stories Cape Town (Video Clip)

For the past 5 weeks Adidas Originals has turned the Woodstock Industrial Centre into a massive 2010 World Cup Soccer viewing area and hipster loitering zone. The place has basically turned into a home where artists, sculptors, photographers and general trendsetters link up to watch the games, cool out and have a blast. Three Stories played host to six different Art Exhibitions, a top class mini-ramp downstairs, HD projector screen upstairs, free-flowing freshly-popped popcorn, a good selection of booze, homemade food, as well as live acts and DJ's rocking out just for kicks'. I played a few different roles over the more than month long event; I DJ'ed a few gigs (like at one of the main Graffiti Exhibitions) as well as helped host a couple fun skateboard events. In addition to my normal photo/jurno antics I was a contributing artist to a few of the exhibitions. During the first week I helped the film crew shoot some great skate footage on the mini-ramp. They strapped a very pricey high end digital SLR to my chest and had me skate the mini-ramp. The footage came out too sick, and i will make sure I get the raw clips from them. Check out this short video I made for my book promotion, it shows some of the print process that most people don't see. While working on the production and printing phase of my book I have gained vast publishing knowledge and was quickly educated on how in-depth the whole print process is. The cats from P.H.Fat hooked me up with a splendid track that I knew would work, even before I started editing the clips. Big up for the beats...

Ultimate X Goes Down As A Heater' and DJ Just Be...? Rocks' Da Party!!!

Ultimate X 2010 went down on the 20th of Feb. It was a blistering hot Cape Town summer day. DJ Just Be...? was dropping beats in the heat for hours. It was hotter in the DJ booth of that black metal RB truck than it was outside, and it was one of the hottest days this year. The wheel's of steel where so hot that my vinyls started melting half way through playing the track. It was not that chill, I had to switch to my computer and the CD's for the rest of my set. Cats did not mind though, the commentator was going on and on about the tunes and a lot of people told me they were really feeling it. There was this busted little mini ramp that I skated a few times, it was fun, but again it was a bit too warm for anything let alone a full out session. A few of the top SA skaters showed up for a little street jam/comp thing. I shot a few clips on this little digital camera, click the link below to check the short vid I uploaded. All in all it was a rad gig and the people that came through had a blast. Here are a few rad photos this guy shot of me and a few that I snapped with my little digi. Mini-Ramp Gathering (06th Jan. 2010)

Cape Town is a rad place to chill out in the summer, and some of the top skaters from all over come down to enjoy the vibes. Jamie from dope ind. and a few of the boyz recently built a really nice tight little mini-ramp at an undisclosed warehouse in Woodstock. Cats pulled through to have a skate on the warm summer night; here is a short video clip of some of the stuff that went down that evening.
